Farm & Ranch4.6/5 Lowe's
Husqvarna split the old 450 Rancher into two current saws — the 450S and this 450X — and the X is the stronger of the pair at 3.4 hp from the same 50.2cc, a meaningful step over the 445S's 3 hp for $100 more. It ships on a 20-inch bar, which is also its rated maximum, and at 11.2 lb it carries that bar without feeling nose-heavy. The plain 450 Rancher that generated a decade of owner reports is now support-only on Husqvarna's site; listings still at big-box retailers are run-out stock, and its reputation does not transfer cleanly because the X is a different state of tune. Two things to weigh: this is still a carbureted saw with no AutoTune, so altitude changes mean reaching for a screwdriver, and the recurring complaint on the whole Rancher family has long been chain tension and overheating when owners run a 20-inch bar hard in dense hardwood. Buy it for fenceline work and firewood on a 20-inch bar used sensibly, not for production felling.
Best for: Landowners cutting firewood and clearing fencelines who want the strongest 50cc Rancher without stepping up to the 455.
Manufacturer figures except the engine class and single-pass cut, which are derived here. What each spec means
Written from the spec sheet and the maker's documentation; owner reports for this model were too thin to summarize.
