The CS-620P with a full-wrap aluminium handle bolted on, which costs $30 and 0.4 lb and is either irrelevant to you or the only reason to buy this saw. A wrap handle gives you grip positions down the left side of the powerhead, so you can hold the saw level while it is on its side — which is what you want felling, limbing across a trunk, or cutting stumps low. Owners who bought it for that reason are unusually loyal; the recurring note in long-term threads is reliability, with more than one saying they sold their Stihls to fund it and never looked back. The engine underneath is the same well-regarded 59.8cc X Series unit: magnesium crankcase and sprocket cover, rim sprocket, decompression valve, and enough pull to hang 24 or 27 inches off the front. The honest objection is weight — at 14.1 lb for the powerhead it lands where rival 70cc saws do, so you are carrying 70cc mass for 60cc displacement.

Best for: Fallers and tree crews who need wrap-handle grip positions and will use the X Series build hard enough to justify it.

Manufacturer figures except the engine class and single-pass cut, which are derived here. What each spec means

  • Full-wrap aluminium handle
  • Magnesium crankcase and cover
  • Runs up to a 27-inch bar

What owners like

  • Full-wrap aluminium handle with rubber grip gives left-side grip positions for felling and low stump cuts
  • Same 59.8cc X Series engine as the CS-620P, with magnesium crankcase and sprocket cover
  • Long-term owners describe it as incredibly reliable, several having replaced Stihl saws with it
  • Pulls a 24-inch bar comfortably and is rated to 27
  • Rim sprocket, decompression valve and G-Force pre-cleaner are all pro-grade standard fit
  • 5-year consumer warranty on a professional felling saw

Common complaints

  • 14.1 lb powerhead — as heavy as many rival 70cc saws, for 59.8cc of displacement
  • $30 and 0.4 lb more than the CS-620P, and worthless to you if you never cut with the saw on its side
  • Wrap handle makes the saw bulkier to stow and to carry through brush
  • Starts at a 20-inch bar — no 16- or 18-inch option, unlike the standard CS-620P
  • Sold through dealers, so there is no retail review aggregate to check
