A 60V top handle is an unusual thing — most of the class runs 18V or 36V — and the DCCS674 trades the weight penalty for chain speed: 23 m/s on a .325" low-profile chain and 2.42 peak horsepower, with DeWalt's own figure an 11-inch log cut up to 35% faster than a 35cc gas saw. The weight is the catch and it is not small. 11.4 lb before you add a FlexVolt pack is heavy for a saw meant to be worked one-handed at height; the Makita XGT 14" top handle does the same job at 9.2 lb with its battery fitted. Where this one earns its place is a crew already standing in FlexVolt batteries, because the bare tool at around $479 is the cheap way in — the two-battery kit runs past $800. Treat the published weight as the reason to try it before committing.

Best for: FlexVolt-equipped crews who want a fast top handle and already own 60V packs to feed it.

Manufacturer figures except the engine class and single-pass cut, which are derived here. What each spec means

  • 23 m/s chain speed
  • 2.42 peak HP
  • Heavy for a top handle

Where it is strong

  • 23 m/s chain speed on a .325" low-profile chain, quick by top-handle standards
  • DeWalt's claim is an 11-inch log up to 35% faster than a 35cc gas saw
  • Bare tool around $479 against roughly $830 for the two-battery kit — the sensible buy if you own FlexVolt packs
  • Runs the same 60V packs as DeWalt's bigger saws and the FlexVolt jobsite tools

Where it falls short

  • 11.4 lb before the battery goes on — the heaviest 14" top handle in this group by a wide margin
  • No battery or charger in this SKU; a FlexVolt pack is a significant additional cost
  • 3-year limited warranty against Milwaukee's five on the competing M18 top handle
  • Top-handle geometry plus real weight is a demanding combination at height; this is a trained-user tool
  • Narrow-kerf .043" chain dulls quickly in storm wood and grit
