Property owners and light-duty pros who want the most battery saw per dollar and a long warranty, and don't mind the extra pounds.
Farm & Ranch
8.99 lb bare for an 18-inch bar is the number that makes this saw interesting, and it is not a typo: Skil's heaviest chainsaw is lighter than Worx's 16-inch Nitro by more than six pounds and lighter than most 40cc gas saws it claims to replace. The 6.0Ah pack is what pays for that — 210 cuts in 4x4 pine on a charge, with a 320W charger that refills it in an hour, which is the fastest turnaround of any kit in the value tier. It is also the only saw here with a published IPX4 water-resistance rating, so wet storm cleanup is not an act of faith. The .050-gauge chain is the commodity gauge, unlike the .043 narrow-kerf loops most battery saws in this price range use. The honest ceiling is the platform: PWRCore 40 is a small ecosystem, and a replacement 6.0Ah pack costs a meaningful fraction of the $330 kit.
Best for: Firewood and felling small trees where an 18-inch bar matters but a gas saw's weight and upkeep do not.
