Skil pitches this as a 30cc gas equivalent, and at 7.83 lb bare it is the lightest 14-inch saw in the value group — two and a half pounds under Worx's WG384. Chain speed is 14.8 m/s, well under the 18-inch CS1800C's 17, and the chain is a narrow .043 loop, so it limbs and fells small rather than bucks. Watch which kit you buy: CS4555-13 pairs a 4.0Ah pack with a slow 60W charger at $199, while CS4555-10 pairs a smaller 2.5Ah pack with the much faster 150W charger at $220.

Best for: Homeowners who want the lightest 14-inch battery saw for limbing and will own a second pack rather than wait on the charger.

Manufacturer figures except the engine class and single-pass cut, which are derived here. What each spec means

7.83 lb bare
Two kit SKUs, different chargers
3/8" .043 narrow-kerf chain

Where it is strong

7.83 lb bare is the lightest 14-inch saw in this group
$199 kit includes a 4.0Ah pack, larger than most kits at this price
Brushless motor with tool-free side-dial tensioning
Up to 5-year tool coverage with registration
Tool-only CS4555-00 exists for owners already on PWRCore 40

Where it falls short

The $199 kit's 60W charger is slow; the faster 150W charger only comes with the smaller 2.5Ah pack
14.8 m/s chain speed is the slowest of Skil's 40V saws
.043 narrow-kerf chain limits it in dense wood
Two near-identical kit SKUs make it easy to buy the wrong charger
Battery warranty is 2 years, shorter than the tool's
